Every once in a while, I ask people what they’ve purchased to help post online more consistently. Silly question. Because for most people, the answer is “nothing.” They’ve bought nothing. They invested nothing. Which is nuts. Most people assume the traditional writing skills they learned in high school are good enough for today’s digital writing world. Ridiculous. Imagine your high school self trying to do the job you have today. Think they could handle it? No. Of course not. They wouldn’t have the skills. Anyway I’m already going off track like a train on cocaine. Back to the point: Couple weeks ago, this guy told me something he actually bought to help his online writing. He said: “(I bought) ChatGPT 4 to help with content ideas, copywriting courses in the past” That’s a real answer. Dude is trying. But when I asked him what his biggest challenge with online writing was, he said: “(Writing) takes long, not seeing the results fast enough” Which made me lol. He bought a robot that spits out words faster than the Fed’s money printing machine spits out hundred-dollar bills. And still he’s not growing fast enough. This is worth pointing out: In the 2 years since ChatGPT launched, I’ve yet to see a single person use it as their main means of writing online successfully. “But Tim, it generates headlines!” Headlines people want to read? “But it writes paragraphs!” Don’t you have to edit them afterward? “But it helps me come up with ideas!” When you publish those ideas that you got from the almighty GPT, did they work? Did they get liked and shared? Did they go viral? Or did you just FEEL like something happened? That’s what I thought. Look, ChatGPT uses our worst side against us. We want to believe it works because a deep part of us is lazy and greedy and impatient. In the words of my redneck business partner Todd Brison: It ain’t working that way. To grow online, you need a little patience. You need to know what people WANT to read. You need a strong writer's voice. The world doesn’t need more garbage. Alright. I’ll let you off easy there because it’s Friday. Last word: The Fearless Writer begins in just 2 days. And unlike those who use ChatGPT, people who use this challenge actually come out with results. Like Wendy, who’s “very small victory” was posting twice after years of procrastination. Like Tony, who reached 100 followers and is now “picking up speed” Like Tina, who went from no newsletter to 500 subscribers. Like Timothy, who woke up to over 1,000 followers after a few months of patience. Like Asia and Kate, who connected with authors they admired. I could give you more, but this email would get too long. Enrollment for The Fearless Writer Challenge ends at midnight on Sunday, January 5. Roughly 36 hours. Not much time. I’m being very clear on this deadline because late enrollments will be rejected. That would be unfair to students who have already joined. Read Online Howdy Ya'll, This week I bought two more Teslas (now up to three). I'm so tired of paying for gasoline and driving cars with 20 year old technology. Over the holidays I took my Tesla to the beach. The car drove by itself most of the way with my hands off the wheel. This is the future. Here's my most shared tweet this week (click to read all of it): Tim Denning @Tim_Denning If I had to start from $0 and make $1M online again at 38, here’s what I’d do: 12:34 AM • Jan 16, 2025 94...

Every writer leaves behind two graves when they die. The first one holds the body. That’s not so important. The second one holds the ideas they never got to write. That’s why I’m so intense about writing. It’s why I publish seven to ten blogs per week. It’s why I’m on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Substack constantly. I’ve never been worried about writing too much. I’m terrified I’ll write too little. What if I leave behind some of my best ideas? What if I never get the chance to talk about...
